Day 6: Skyline Adventure, Rain over the Gardens and a Magical Light Show

After a hearty breakfast we set off for Toa Payoh to pick up the deaf group from their hotel. Together we travelled to Bayfront station, where we first explained the bus and train connections so that everyone could find their way around in the days ahead.

Flexibility on the way up

Our plan was to go up to the Marina Bay Sands SkyPark Observation Deck (the skyline). At first we were told this would only be possible from 9:15 pm, which would have been far too late for us. But the staff changed their minds: because one person in our group uses a white cane, we were allowed up at 5:00 pm. So we quickly got the tickets and used the time before for Gardens by the Bay.

Gardens by the Bay and tropical rain

In the gardens it was typically hot and humid. We strolled around in a relaxed way, admired the many festive figures for Chinese New Year and took countless photos.

We were at the entrance to the skyline right on time, before 4:45 pm. We had hardly arrived at the top when it started to rain. But that didn’t stop us!

We kept taking photos, even though a sudden flash of lightning nearby gave us a short fright.

A precious souvenir and the grand finale

At the exit we couldn’t resist: we bought the professional souvenir photos. They weren’t cheap, but they came in a beautiful brown album.

With heavy legs we then wandered through the Marina Bay Sands mall. Because it was very crowded inside, we had a little something to eat outside.

The crowning finale was the laser show at Marina Bay. The combination of water jets and light effects was simply breathtaking!

After the journey home, we just fell into bed, tired.

That’s it for today!
